Google SAML SSO

This guide walks you through the process of configuring Google SAML Single Sign-On (SSO) for Routespring, allowing your users to sign in using their Google Workspace credentials.

Prerequisites:

Before setting up SAML SSO, ensure that:
  1. You have administrator access to Google Workspace.
  2. You have administrator access to Routespring.
  3. Your users are provisioned in Routespring with the same email addresses as their Google Workspace accounts.You need to have an Admin account on Routespring and Google to be able to enable Google SAML SSO.

Step 1: Add Routespring as a Custom SAML App in Google Workspace

  1. Sign in to Google Admin Console at admin.google.com.
  2. Navigate to Apps > Web and mobile apps.
  3. Click Add App > Add custom SAML app.
  4. Enter App name (e.g., “Routespring SSO”) and Description
    (e.g., "Business Travel Management App")
  5. Under App icon upload the Routespring logo
  6. Click Continue.

Step 2: Configure SAML Authentication in Google Workspace

  1. Download the Google IDP Metadata:

    • Under Google Identity Provider details, click Download Metadata (XML file).
    • Save this file; you'll need it to configure SSO in Routespring.
    • Click Continue.
  2. Enter Service Provider Details from Routespring:

    • ACS URLSingle sign-on URL (SP Assertion Consumer Service URL)
    • Entity IDSP Entity ID
    • Name ID Format: EMAIL
    • Name ID: Basic Information > Primary Email
    • Click Continue.

  3. Define User Attributes:

    • Click Add Mapping and configure the following attributes:
      • Basic Information > Primary Email → email
      • Basic Information > First name → firstName
      • Basic Information > Last name → lastName
      • Employee Details > Department → department
    • Click Finish.

Step 3: Enable SAML SSO in Routespring

  1. Sign in to Routespring as an Admin.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Authentication > Single Sign-On (SSO).
  3. Upload the Google IDP Metadata file you downloaded earlier.
  4. Copy the URL of your Routespring SAML SSO app in Google and send it to trip@routespring.com.

  5. Click Request Activation

Step 4: Assign Users in Google Workspace

  1. Go back to Google Admin Console.
  2. Navigate to Apps > Web and mobile apps > Routespring SSO.
  3. Click User Access and enable access for users or groups.
  4. Click Save.

Within 24 hours, Routespring support will review and activate your Google SAML SSO. Once that's done, you're all set and your employees will start seeing Routespring app in their Google Workspace apps as below. They can just click on the app and they will be logged into their Routespring account.
