How to Filter Out Hotels Below a Certain Star Rating?

Routespring allows your organization to maintain quality and safety standards by automatically hiding hotels that fall below a selected star rating. Once this filter is enabled, travelers will only see hotels that meet or exceed the minimum star requirement you set.

This feature is especially helpful for companies that want to enforce quality expectations for crew travel, consulting teams, VIP travelers, or general corporate travel.

Where to Find This Setting

You can configure the star-rating filter from the Company Dashboard:

Settings → General tab

Scroll to the section labeled “Filter out low star rated hotels.”

How to Enable the Filter

  1. Go to Company Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Settings in the top menu.

  3. Select the General tab (if not already selected).

  4. Scroll to Filter out low star rated hotels.

  5. Toggle the switch ON (purple) to activate the filter.

  6. Use the dropdown menu to select your minimum preferred hotel rating
    (options like 1-star, 2-star, 2.5-star, 3-star, etc.).

Once enabled, any hotel rated lower than the selected star rating will be removed from search results for all travelers.

What Happens After You Apply the Filter

  • Travelers will not see hotels below the defined minimum star rating.

  • All search results will automatically comply with this rule and no manual filtering is needed.

  • This applies across all locations and all hotel bookings made through Routespring.

Use Cases

Companies enable this rule for several reasons:

  • Crew safety: Avoid placing crew members in low-quality or unsafe properties.

  • Corporate standards: Maintain consistent accommodation quality for all employees.

  • Brand image: Ensure client-facing teams stay in appropriate hotels.

  • Risk management: Reduce bookings at hotels with poor reviews or inadequate facilities.

  • Cost-quality balance: Allow travelers flexibility while still maintaining a baseline standard.

Traveler Experience

When this setting is active:

  • The traveler sees only hotels that meet your company’s star standards.

  • The filter is automatically applied; travelers cannot disable it.

  • This ensures consistent policy compliance across the organization.
